This disclaimer was delivered during a media conference on Saturday by the APC’s Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, who stated that it was nearly impossible for anyone to underestimate Nigeria.
Ibrahim further said that such a goal was unattainable and that the National Assembly’s zoning plan was motivated by the need for religious unity.
The former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, made a speech a few days ago that heightened alarm about the religious dimension of the leadership contest.
El-Rufai caused a stir.In a six-minute viral video, El-Rufai justified his decision to promote Muslims over Christians in the Kaduna State Government.
During a meeting with several Islamic clerics on the eve of his last day in office, the former governor declared that Muslims supported the APC in the most recent election.

Once again, the party zoned the Deputy Senate presidency to the North-West in the hope that a Muslim from that region would emerge. If this is accomplished, religion, sentiments, and section will be balanced.
When asked what the party plans to do if the zoning agreement fails and a Muslim is elected Senate President, Ibrahim said, “We’ll see.”
stated that the APC could do little or nothing since doing so would imply that the will of the people had won.
