The attack involved five drones and targeted various areas in the capital’s surrounding area.

Four Ukrainian drones were shot down by Moscow air defences, while a fifth was jammed and crashed into the Moscow region’s Odintsovo area.

Ukraine, on the other hand, has not claimed responsibility for the alleged attack.

Two drones were captured at a village 30 kilometres (19 miles) southwest of the Kremlin, according to Russian news media.

According to SurgeZirc Media sources, one drone was discovered in the adjacent Kaluga district.

Another drone was shot down near the town of Kubinka, about 63 kilometres (40 miles) west of Moscow. Kubinka is close to a Russian aviation base.

According to the source, landings and takeoffs at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport were restricted for several hours early on Tuesday before returning to normal operations after 05.00 GMT. A number of flights from Russia, Turkey, the UAE, and Egypt were rerouted.

The Russian foreign and defence ministries both condemned the act as terrorism.

The Kyiv regime’s attempt to attack an area where civilian infrastructure is located, including the airport, which incidentally also receives foreign flights, is yet another act of terrorism, foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated.
