Borno State Governor, has authorised the nomination of Malam Bukar Tijani, Nigeria’s former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, as Secretary to the Borno State Government.
Professor Isa Hussaini Marte, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, has also been reappointed.

Malam Isa Gusau, the Governor’s spokesman, announced the two nominations in Ex Minister Of Agriculture Ex Minister Of Agriculture statement made on Thursday.
According to the announcement, Zulum valued Tijani’s high-level experience as a minister from July 2011 to September 2013 and as Assistant Secretary-General/Assistant Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation.
Professor Isa Hussaini, the Chief of Staff, is a Fellow of the previous minister. Isa is from the Marte local government area of Borno State. On August 17, 2020, he was named as Governor Zulum’s chief of staff.
Isa Hussaini Marte is a professor of pharmacology with a speciality in cancer research. He is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, among other organisations.
Marte received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from King’s College London in 1987. In 1983, he earned a Master’s Degree in pharmacology from Chelsea College, University of London.
He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. Isa Marte joined the University of Maiduguri’s Department of Pharmacology in 1981 and went for his graduate studies at the Chelsea College University of London in 1982.

After receiving a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from King’s College London in 1987, he returned to Nigeria to join the faculty of Ahmadu Bello University, where he was promoted to senior lecturer in 1991.
He left the institution to work as a chief research fellow at the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Development in Abuja, where he was eventually appointed head of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Therapeutics.
