SurgeZirc NG has come across a supposedly funny video of a Senate plenary that has been trending on the internet for the past several hours.

In the video, the Senate president, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, was seen addressing a motion that somewhat mimicked President Tinubu’s “Let the poor breefffffff” line.

The motion, which was supposed to address the drastic hike in electricity tariff across the country, was moved by a certain senator and seconded by one Senator Mustapha.

The Nigerian president had made the popular statement during one of his usually hilarious interviews.

The full line reads: “Let the poor breath, don’t suffocate them. We have that responsibility.”

The line had caused a stir on social media with many comedians referencing it during their skits. Preachers and public speakers were not left out in the drama.

At the end of Senator Akpabio’s statement, which was made during the plenary of July 25, the house erupted in laughter and claps.

While many netizens saw the statement as a comic relief and made fun out of it, others were displeased and didn’t take it lightly, as was evident in their comments.

@instablog9ja had made a tweet containing the video, and had comments flowing under the post in their hundreds.

One of the displeased persons, @Irunnia_ said: “Our leaders put us in this situation and look at them laughing because they collect allowances in millions. Anybody that voted back in APC, may it never be well with you.”

Another Twitter user had quoted the post with the caption: “The president and Senate president are comedians, and you think this country isn’t a joke?”
