FG has mandated that engineering graduates not be assigned to secondary schools for their initial assignments by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or other relevant institutions.
The statement by the FG was made in response to reporters’ questions at a press conference held yesterday in Abuja to herald the 31st COREN Engineering Assembly, which will be held from August 7, 2023 to August 9, 2023 in Abuja.

President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Professor Sadiq Zubair Abubakar, stated that the council has written to the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), that all polytechnics and universities must administer an induction ceremony for all engineering graduates.
“Failure to do so would be met with sanctions.”
We have written to all universities and polytechnics requesting that our University and Polytechnic engineering graduates be sworn in and inducted. If you do not comply, we will discipline you,” he stated.
“We want to ensure that the skill and proficiency of engineering graduates, whether from universities or polytechnics, is also protected.”
“Students, like patients, must be indexed.” You will not be mobilised to NYSC if you are not indexed.
