FG has ordered for the immediate withdrawal of mobile police from all ex-VIPs, Aisha Buhari’s siblings, ex-government officials, and others.
The Federal Government, FG has removed Mobile Police Force troops assigned to many Very Important People, including previous governors, ministers, and MPs.

The directive, conveyed in a police wireless transmission from Mopol 45 Force Headquarters in Abuja, affected Daura Buhari, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s brother, as well as former First Lady Aisha Buhari’s sibling and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
The news comes just a few weeks after the IG promised to remove Police Mobile Force soldiers from VIP escort and protection responsibilities.
He had also announced intentions to establish the Special Intervention Squad, which he said would consist of 40,000 highly trained police officers.
The IG stated that this was done to allow the police to reclaim their place in the country’s “internal security architecture.”
On June 26, Egbetokun announced during a meeting with Squadron leaders and Tactical Commanders in Abuja, “We shall effect the withdrawal of PMF personnel from VIP escort/guard duties.”
While the protection of dignitaries remains vital, it is critical that we adjust our priorities in order to confront the nation’s escalating security challenges.
We can divert the PMF’s emphasis and efforts towards tackling major security challenges that affect our communities as a whole by freeing them of VIP escort and guard tasks.
“Modalities for the formation of a new special squad, the ‘Special Intervention Squad’ which have been initiated in order to kick-start the process of regaining our pride of place, first and foremost in the internal security architecture of our dear country.”

“This elite squad will be made up of 40,000 specially trained officers.”
The Squad will be formed by selecting officers from the pool of existing Police Mobile Force troops as well as from all tactical units throughout the country.
