secondary teachers are initially expected to resume their duties on Monday, Aug. 3, confirmed Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo on Friday at Abeokuta.

 In a media statement, Soyombo reported that GovenderDapo Abiodun of Ogun indicated that the motive behind the mandate was to allow educators to assist school principals to prepare for the return of students on Aug.4.

Moreover, the directive was for teachers in public and private schools to facilitate them to get ready for the West African Senior Secondary Examination (WASSCE) set to commence on Aug. 17 and the distribution of exammaterials provided by the government

“The Ogun state government wishes to inform the general public that all Senior Secondary School Thee students both in the public and private schools will resume to school on August 4 in readiness for intensive revision classes ahead of their WASSCE”, said Abiodun.

He highlighted that all procedures set by the government will be followed by school administrators to ensure the safety of students before the resumption of academic activities.

“The revision exercise is being put in place to cover the academic gaps and lapses for students that could not follow the virtual classes tagged Ogundigiclass put in place by the state government while they were at home,” he added.

All stakeholders were urged to work together with the government to make certain of safe returns to schools, and all students are expected to recommence with their studies on Tuesday, August 4.
