Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has dismissed his Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof. Raphael Afonja. This was disclosed in a public statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa.
The statement revealed that the State Government Secretary, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, signed a letter dated August 10, and it disclosed that the commissioner was fired with immediate effect.

The letter titled “Termination of appointment” read: “I wish to convey the approval of Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the termination of your appointment as Honorable Commissioner with immediate effect.
“Consequent upon the above development, you are hereby directed to hand over all the government items in your possession to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Infrastructure and Transport. I am to add that your contribution within the time of your sojourn is appreciated and commendable, and therefore, wish you success in your future endeavors. I thank you.”

However, the statement revealed that the governor accepted the redeployment of two commissioners who were requested to exchange portfolios. Moreover, an internal memo specified that the redeployments of the commissioners will happen immediately.
It also stated that the Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Bayo Lawal, has been shifted to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while the other commissioner who was administering that ministry, Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi has been moved to the Ministry of Special Duties.
