While the country is still battling with the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Ogun State government has ordered the re-opening of worship centres in the state and banned the weekend lockdown.
However, the governor of Ogun Dapo Abiodun, announced on Friday that movement and commercial activities are still banned in the state, noting that commercial activities can now take place on weekends. According to him, the decision was made after the government consulted stakeholders across the state.

“Let me say that now that our worship centres are open for activities, the restriction on weekends is lifted, but the limitation on social gatherings not exceeding 20 people at any place at the same time is still very much in force. Observation of dust-to-dawn curfew as directed by the Presidential Task Force i.e. between 10:00 pm and 4:00 am daily,” he said.
In addition, the governor also noted that residents are still urged to comply with the COVID-19 strictly measures to cap the spread of the virus. As a result, commercial vehicles will continue to keep a 60 percent reduction of passengers per trip.

“Wearing of face masks in the public is compulsory and failure to do so is punishable. Only one passenger is still allowed for motorcycles and two passengers only for tricycles. Taxi cabs and buses still have a 60% limitation on their carrying capacity and non-adherence attracts sanction.
“The COVID-19 Task Force in markets must continue to ensure physical distancing, availability of handwashing facilities, and use of gloves and face masks for traders. Decontamination will continue in our markets and other public spaces,” said Abiodun.
