The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his deepest condolences following the passing of the former governor of old Gongola State, Amb. Wilberforce Juta. He commiserated with his family, government, and the people of Adamawa.

In a statement released on Sunday,  August 16, 2020, in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu. The president also sympathized with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the departure of one of its founding fathers.

He also revealed that the former governor served the country with devotion as High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, at the return to civilian rule in 1999. Buhari also acknowledged that the late governor was an educator; politician and Christian leader who was involved with the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), adding that he was dedicated and passionate about the growth and stability of the country.

The statement read: “In recognition of his outstanding roles in the education sector, as a school principal, the elder statesman was once honoured as the Best Principal in North East. President Buhari’s thoughts and prayers are with the Ambassador’s family, friends and the people of Adamawa State in their time of grief, even as he prays for the repose of the soul of the departed patriot.”

President Buhari also noted that Juta trained and equipped many Nigerians for leadership roles of today and tomorrow, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, who was his former student. Furthermore, he acknowledged that the former governor always strived for peace, harmony, and religious liberty.
