The Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has called on the people of Edo to re-elect the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Gov Godwin Obaseki on the forthcoming September 19 governorship election, to bring all the states in the region under one political party.

While addressing at a PDP Ward rally on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Ekpon Ward 9 and 10 in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo, Okowa labeled Governor Obaseki as a decent leader and advised the electorates to go out in big numbers to support his re-election.

Moreover, the governor also noted that as Chairman of the South-South Governors Forum, it is their desire to remain in one political party for the rapid progress of the region. “You know your Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki is a very good man if he wasn’t a good man I will not be here. I am proud of the people of Ekpon because of their support for the PDP over the years.

“Don’t be afraid of any intimidation vote and defend your votes. The whole of South-South is now made up of PDP Governor’s family. There are six states in the South-South and I am the current Chairman of the Governors Forum in the South-South and we do not want Edo State to go into another party anymore,” he said.

Okowa commended Obaseki for doing an exceptional job in developing the State regardless of the economic crisis. “I must commend you for being able to construct several rural roads in Edo despite the economic challenges facing states across the nation. I believe God Almighty will see you through this election so that you will build more roads for the people of Edo,” he added.

I am aware he established the first private hospital in Ekpon years ago. He has assured me that we will collaborate to construct the road connecting Edo and Delta,” said.

Obaseki vowed to do more to develop the community and urged the people of the State to go out in masses and vote for him so that he can be able to fulfill his promises.
