The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has commended Fulani and Ham leaders for keeping peace in the state following the murder of a herder, Usman Shehu Abdullahi who was killed in Jaba local government area.

It would be recalled that there has been concern about the state of insecurity in communities in Southern Kaduna which has led to the deployment of troops to the state; however, a herder was reportedly murdered by anonymous assaulters at Sabzuro-Tunga near Nok.

In a meeting held on Saturday in Ungwan Tunga, Governer El-Rufai was represented by the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan who reported that the security agencies are investigating the matter.

The security agencies are still carrying out investigation and we are grateful for your cooperation and understanding. Your cooperation helped immensely in the de-escalating tension,” he said.

El-Rufai has called on the community leaders to continue distributing vital information with security agencies. Chairman of the local government, Benjamin Jock said the council has been working with security agencies to get to the bottom of the issue.

He also added that he has called for an urgent meeting with critical stakeholders to reinforce intelligence gathering and distribution of useful information. Abdullahi Wakili, who is the father of the deceased said they will continue to work together with law enforcement agencies.
