The Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with families who lost their loved ones, farmlands, means of living, and property in the devastating floods in Jigawa State.
In a statement released on Friday, September 4, 2020, in Abuja by his senior special assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, the president assured the families affected by the natural disaster in several communities of the state, that the Federal Government will offer continuous support during this difficult time.

Buhari also ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other significant government agencies to instantly evaluate the situation in the affected areas of the state with a vision to offer the necessary humanitarian materials.

According to reports, about 19 people have been reported dead while thousands of houses were demolished as an effect of the flood disaster in certain parts of the state. The president indicated that he would continue to keep an eye on close reports of flood situation across the country.
“Relevant federal agencies are well prepared to respond to such disasters and mitigate associated risks,” said Buhari.
