Edo State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in collaboration with the Light of Peace for Africa Foundation, has called on all churches to join a prayer and fasting service scheduled to take place on September 16, to ensure a peaceful election in the State.

The Chairman of the Association, Bishop Oyonnude Kure disclosed this while briefing journalists in Benin on Wednesday. The CAN leader said it was important for the people of the state to come together in one voice and seek the face of God to avoid bloodshed and violence ahead and during the poll.

“CAN hereby calls on all churches, all pastors, all Christians, all God-fearing and all good people of Edo for a one-day prayer and fasting for peaceful election in Edo. The prayer service is very crucial and critical to the destiny of the state.

“We all in humility and reverence stand in prayers to call on God Almighty for divine interventions in His mercy and Almightiness for peace like a river in the state before during and after the elections,” said Kure.

The CAN leader also noted that integrity, faith, and the sustainability of the developmental strides that had since put the state in a desirable position of the Nigerian federation must be considered while casting the votes in the approaching governorship poll scheduled for Sep 19.

The Bishop urged the people of the state to foster promote and maintain peace in the land. He also advised them to vote wisely and conscientiously on the day of the election without any fear.
