Gunmen Kidnap More Than 21 People In Kaduna State

More than twenty-one people have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Udawa village, Chikun local government area of Kaduna state over the past weekend.

Reports have revealed that the abductions occurred in two separate cases, however, Twenty-one of the captured residents, consist of 17 family members. A community leader of the village, Liman Hussaini reported that unidentified gunmen stormed the area and started firing guns, consequently leaving more than a few people wounded.

Hussaini further disclosed that four people were abducted on Friday, while 17 others were kidnapped on Saturday morning on their way to the farm. Consequently, four other related members of the community who were involved in the incident were rushed to Hospital in Kaduna after sustaining injuries during the attack.

”Yesterday a family of 21 were going to the farm but about one and a half kilometres away from the home, they were attacked by gunmen. Four of them sustained serious injuries from gunshots while 17 of them were abducted” said the community leader.

He also added that, “You know the head of this family of 21 was riding on a bike with one of his sons and two daughters to the farm when the bandits opened fire on them after abducting 17 members of the family. The man was shot on the leg; the son was shot in the mouth. One of the daughters was shot on the chest; the other daughter was shot on the hand. The four of them were taken to a hospital in Kaduna.”

However, he stated that security personnel was stationed in the area, but they arrived at the crime scene while the gunmen had already fled to the bushes with the victims. Hussaini expressed concern over the security situation in the area.

A police spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command could not be reached for a comment on the incident at the time of publishing this report.
