On the nation’s birthday, Barack and Michelle Obama wished their daughter Malia a happy 23rd birthday.
On the Fourth of July, the couple paid separate tributes to their older daughter, who turned 23.

“Happy Fourth of July, and Happy Birthday, Malia! It’s been such a joy to watch you begin to make your own way in the world with poise, grace, and humour,” Barack Obama wrote on social media.
“I miss the days when you thought the fireworks were for you,” he added while sharing a throwback shot from when Malia was still a little girl.
At least one follower was associated with celebrating a birthday on a holiday with such well-known festivities, writing, “Happy Birthday to Malia! 
I was born on New Year’s Day and I use to think that the whole Time Square thing was about ME!!! 
.”
Michelle Obama wasn’t left out as she also shared a childhood pic of Malia while sharing kind words about her daughter.
She wrote, “Happy Fourth of July, everybody—and also, happy 23rd birthday to our dear Malia! It’s been a few years since we took this photo, but I know that she’ll always be my sweet little girl whose big hugs and big heart always lift up my day. Malia, we love you, and are so excited to see what this year will bring for you!
Sasha Obama, the Obamas’ younger daughter, turned 20 last month on June 10 and received a similar Instagram tribute from her parents.
