The Nigerian government has yet again lost its bid on Wednesday to transfer the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from Umuahia to Abuja.

The Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, insisted on having jurisdiction to hear and decide the case.

Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s Special Counsel, revealed this in a tweet, emphasizing that the matter was still ongoing.

“Breaking: Federal High Court, Umuahia denies the Federal Government’s application to transfer the ‘extraordinary rendition’ suit to Abuja, and rules that Umuahia has the jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit”. Reading of the rest of the judgment continues,” Ejimako wrote.

The Special Counsel to the detained leader of IPOB was challenging Kanu’s illegal abduction and extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria.

Ejimakor is demanding that the court orders Kanu’s return to Kenya, where he was unlawfully abducted or the UK, where he is also a citizen.

The federal government has also refused to obey a court order that trashed all count charges against Kanu and discharged him on the bases that they are looking to file fresh charges.
