The Benue Youth Forum, BYF, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of supporting bandits and terrorists who killed people in Benue State.
According to BYF, Atiku’s recent “careless and unfortunate” statement justifying herders’ attack in the state was a mockery of those who died due to the massacre by terrorists.

The group slammed Atiku for recent comments accusing Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom of profiling Fulanis as bandits and terrorists, as well as last week’s killing of over 40 people, including two police officers, in Gbeji, Ukum Local Government Area.
Terrence Kuanum, the President of BYF, described the comment of the Presidential candidate of PDP as “another terrible unforced error.”
A recent statement by Kuanum read, “That careless and callous comment coming from an individual who is parading himself as a “unifier” clearly shows where he stands on the incessant invasion of Benue communities and massacre of the people and the destruction of their property by well armed Fulani militiamen.
“We see that evil statement which came from the abundance of Atiku’s heart as a justification of the massacre in Benue state and a mockery of those who died in those attacks as well as a declaration of support for the marauding Fulani terrorists that carry those heinous activities.”
The group is demanding that former Vice President Atiku demonstrate his acclaimed love for the Tiv people by condemning the Fulani militia’s deadly actions against innocent citizens of the state.
BYF also went further to charge the Tiv Traditional Council with monitoring Atiku’s future statements about the state, emphasizing in strong words the importance of stripping him of his Zege Mule U Tiv title.

The group is also demanding that Atiku Abubakar immediately apologize to the people of the state for his comments about the deadly attacks that have taken the lives of thousands of Benue people.
BYF urged the PDP presidential candidate to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the people of Benue and to condemn such acts of terrorism if elected president.
