The 60 Lawyers based the claim on the alleged disobedience of repeated court orders requiring Mr Emefiele’s release.
The lawyers, led by Maxwell Opara and Ahmed Tijani, requested that Mr Bichi be imprisoned for contempt of the court.
The lawyers asked the court to issue Forms 48 and 49, which are used to initiate proceedings to commit a contemnor to prison.
According to the lawyers, the DG of SSS should have released Mr Emefiele from prison based on the decisions and orders of FCT High Court judges M. A. Hassan, Hamza Muazu, and Bello Kawu.
The lawyers argued in an affidavit supporting the application that Mr Hassan barred SSS and other respondents from arresting, detaining, or interrogating Mr Emefiele.
