Atiku who is a northerner from Adamawa state while responding to a question on why the North should vote for him in the election stated that the northerners need a northerner to be the next president.
In his own words, Atiku said, “What the average Northerner needs is somebody who’s from the North and also understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country.
“This is what the Northerner needs. It doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate. I stand before you as a pan-Nigerian of northern origin.’’

Wike said that such a stance affirms the call for equity, fairness, and justice, and advises the leadership of the party to address the issue as soon as possible to avoid having Nigerians perceive the party as insensitive and devoid of the justice it promises.
