D’banj has spoken out nearly 72 hours after being detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) on suspicion of fund diversion.

The singer, reportedly released in the early hours of Friday, December 9, took to social media the following day to address the fraud allegation against him as well as the arrest by ICPC.

Speaking out, D’banj thanked “the world” for its support and stated that he had done everything he could to help the ICPC with its ongoing investigation while saying that he has “no business with fraud” and all he does is “#choplife.”

“global thank you to the world. I was invited to an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth in the matter. I have no business with fraud, all I do is #choplife,” he said.

According to reports, the singer was taken in and detained by the ICPC on Tuesday after the commission ignored several calls.

He is now being investigated for allegedly diverting funds intended for the federal government’s N-Power project. A project launched in 2016 to address the country’s unemployment issues.

D’banj denied any involvement with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission’s fraud allegations (ICPC).

His lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, confirmed that D’banj was released on supervised probation but could not confirm whether the ICPC had granted administrative bail to the “Koko Master” singer.

The ICPC has stated that the investigation is ongoing and that all claims against the singer have been dropped for the time being.
