Tinubu Blames Naira Fall On PDP's Reign

Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of allowing the Naira to depreciate during its 16-year dominance, from N200 to N800 to the dollar, until it was defeated by the APC in 2015.

A brief excerpt of the former governor of Lagos’ address is going viral on social media, and many observers are claiming that he blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the naira’s declining value.

However, after hearing the entire speech, Tinubu obviously meant to allude to the PDP rather than Buhari. Despite omitting PDP from his speech, he alluded to it at the rally’s outset and referenced Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential nominee.

“The lies of their 16 years,” he said. Even for the roasting of boli and corn, they are unable to provide electricity. They continue to lie. Your hydro dams’ electricity production is centralized.

They ate it whole. They claim that Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will benefit from privatization, we counter that this is the end of it. Don’t let them mislead you about currency changes.

They have no idea what inflation is, and they have no idea what money laundering is. They’ll never comprehend why we need to keep our cash in and transform them in the hidden crevices of their rooms.

If the exchange rate wasn’t changed from 200 to 800. We wouldn’t be where we are today, instead, we would be better off if they had fixed it or stopped it. They have done more harm than good, and has left APC with their mess to clean up.

They are illiterates and lack the capacity for critical thought. “Follow me, I say!” Tinubu exclaimed.
