Liverpool has wasted no time in this summer’s transfer window as they seek to regain their spot in the Champions League.
Following a fifth-place finish under Jurgen Klopp, the departure of key players like Roberto Firmino and James Milner has created a need for new faces.
Two signings have already been made for a combined fee of around £100 million.
The first addition to Liverpool’s squad is Alexis Mac Allister, whose deal was finalized before the transfer window officially opened.
The Argentine midfielder’s reported transfer fee varies between £35 million and £45 million.
But regardless of the exact figure, many consider it a bargain for a player who recently won the World Cup.
Mac Allister expressed his excitement about joining the club and his desire to win more trophies.
“It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” the former Brighton playmaker said upon joining the Reds.
“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.
“Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies and I think that this club will help me to do that – that’s the aim and when you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want.”
The second new signing is Dominik Szoboszlai, who arrived at Liverpool after his release clause was met.
The Hungarian midfielder’s move demonstrates the club’s willingness to invest heavily, as the transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £60.1 million.
Szoboszlai is ready to embrace the challenge and is thrilled to join a historic club with talented players and a great coach.
These two signings now enter the list of Liverpool’s top 10 most expensive transfers. The majority of the club’s biggest outlays have occurred under Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
Here is the updated list and the fees for which they were signed.
