Anambra State Government has formed a panel of inquiry to look into the controversy surrounding the high score of a state candidate in the recently completed Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the state Commissioner for Education, announced the panel’s appointment in a statement issued on Monday in Awka.

A panel of inquiry has been formed to work with security agents to investigate the allegation of result falsification levelled against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had previously been highlighted on social media as having scored the highest, she stated.

The Commissioner called the dispute surrounding the Ejikeme’s actual outcome “embarrassing,” especially since it occurred at a time when Governor Chukwuma Soludo was repositioning the education center in the state.

Recall that after the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB, released the 2023 UTME results recently, Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School Uruagu in Nnewi, was hailed for reportedly receiving the highest score of 362 in the examination.

JAMB, on the other hand, alleged in a statement that the girl’s result was fraudulent and manipulated using internet software.

On Sunday, JAMB claimed that Ejikeme boosted her exam result from 249 to 362, sparking speculation over the likelihood of misconduct.

While the Anambra State government has launched an investigation into Mmesoma Ejikeme’s suspected fabrication, it has lauded Nkechinyere Umeh, who JAMB deemed the top scorer countrywide in the examination with a total of 360.
