In an exclusive interview with Adesope Olajide on the renowned Afrobeats Podcast, the talented Nigerian artist, Skiibii bared his soul and shared his remarkable grass-to-grace story.
Skiibii, born Abbey Elias, recalled his early days in Ojuelegba, a bustling neighborhood known for its vibrant energy and challenging circumstances.
Surviving in Ojuelegba was no easy feat, and Skiibii had to engage in various hustles to make ends meet.
Reflecting on his journey, he expressed, “I have come a long way, and my mother couldn’t be prouder of my achievements.”
After rising to prominence, Skiibii gradually gained the means to enjoy the finer things in life. He made his first foray into the world of real estate by acquiring a house, a milestone in itself.
However, he didn’t stop there. With relentless ambition and determination, he went on to purchase four additional properties in the prestigious Lekki Peninsula, one of the most sought-after locations in Lagos State.
As the host reminisced about the moment Skiibii purchased his initial home, the artist joyfully responded, “Oh, that Lekki house? I’ve got five of those!” His words served as a testament to the magnitude of his accomplishments.
Furthermore, Skiibii shed light on how his newfound wealth transformed his lifestyle. He revealed that he hardly needed to pay for anything outside of fuel, as he had everything he desired within the comfort of his own home.
From a fully equipped recording studio to other amenities, his residence became a source of both inspiration and income.
Skiibii’s breakthrough in the music industry began when he signed with Five-Star Music on December 24, 2014. Under the label’s guidance, he released several chart-topping hits, such as the infectious track ‘Ah Skiibii’.
In 2017, Skiibii ventured out on his own, establishing his record label, ‘More Grace Music World’. With newfound artistic freedom, he poured his heart and soul into creating his debut album.
