Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff have been in talks towards landing a contract ahead of the British Grand Prix.
The contract negotiations between the duo have extended beyond expectations with less than six months remaining on Hamilton’s current deal.

From the look of things, Mercedes will not announce a new contract for Hamilton ahead of the British Grand Prix.
Following the race in Austria, where Mercedes finished seventh and eighth, earning only a few points, Team Principal Toto Wolff confirmed that no contract announcement would be made.
George Russell outperformed Hamilton, who received penalties that dropped him behind his fellow British racer.
Throughout the Grand Prix, Hamilton expressed frustration with the car’s performance and other drivers exceeding track limits.
Wolff responded to Hamilton’s complaints on two occasions, displaying tension between the two.
One of the responses was: “Lewis the car is bad, we know, please drive it,” in an assertive tone.
However, Wolff dismissed any suggestion that it would impact contract negotiations, emphasizing the strong relationship they have built over the years.
He said: “You should hear us talking on the phone and meeting each other – that was nothing! No, [it will] not [have an impact] at all.
“We’ve had a bad spell of a weekend all of us in the team and that just makes us stronger.”
Wolff had previously stated that Hamilton’s new contract was just days away before the race in Canada last month.
However, no agreement has been reached in the following weeks. Wolff now says that an announcement is not expected before the Silverstone race.
Wolff remains confident in reaching a deal, explaining that the discussions are focused on improving the future rather than monetary aspects or contract duration.
They are considering various topics to ensure that all details are carefully addressed.

While the negotiations have taken longer than anticipated, both Hamilton and Mercedes are committed to finding common ground.
The delay in announcing a new contract does not seem to have strained their relationship or affected their determination to continue working together in the future.
