According to recent reports, Chelsea has rejected a £40 million bid from West Ham for its 23-year-old midfielder Conor Gallagher.

The Hammers offered an initial fee of £37 million plus £3 million in add-ons for the Chelsea academy graduate.

However, West Ham is unwilling to increase their offer, and the 23-year-old is considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Conor Gallagher has also garnered interest from Tottenham and is open to leaving Chelsea, as he has been offered to other clubs over the last six months.

Under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea aims to begin the season strongly after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign with a 12th-placed finish.

Missing out on European football offers them a chance to concentrate solely on the Premier League.

Earlier this year, Everton proposed a £45 million switch for Gallagher, but he declined the move to Goodison Park.

With only two years left on his contract, Gallagher has not been offered a new deal by Chelsea.

As a result, the club is looking to replace him with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. However, negotiations for Caicedo have proven challenging for the Blues.

The Seagulls had earlier rebuffed the club’s most recent bid of £70 million.

Brighton values Caicedo similarly to how West Ham valued Declan Rice, whom they sold to Arsenal for £105 million.

Now, West Ham is trying to replace Rice with two midfielders, including Gallagher. Meanwhile, the blues still maintains it’s interest in securing Rayan Cherki from Lyon.

Chelsea is open to signing more than one midfielder in the upcoming transfer window, and they have recently shown interest in Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus.

As the transfer market heats up, Chelsea will continue their efforts to reshape their midfield.
