As Apple gears up for the launch of its Vision Pro AR headset in early 2024, the company has started distributing developer kits to select eligible applicants.
The Vision Pro developer kits are being loaned to approved members of the Apple Developer Program.

To be considered for the kit, developers must submit an application, detailing their team’s development skills and existing apps, and agree to the terms and conditions set by Apple.
The terms of the developer kit loan include restrictions on who can access or handle the Vision Pro.
Family, friends, roommates, and household employees are not allowed to interact with the device.
Moreover, developers are prohibited from discussing the Vision Pro in public or on social media.
Apple also reserves the right to verify the list of authorized staff members working on the development kit.
Approved developers will not only receive the headset hardware but also assistance in setting up the Vision Pro and onboarding.
They will have access to check-ins with Apple experts for UI design and development guidance, as well as troubleshooting support for any coding issues.
Apple has outlined its priority for developers who are creating apps that leverage visionOS features and capabilities, as visionOS powers the Vision Pro.
Regardless of the approval date, all developers will have to return their development kit upon request.
In addition to the developer kit distribution, Apple has announced Vision Pro developer labs in various locations, including Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.
These labs will allow developers to interact directly with Apple experts and receive guidance.
The Vision Pro, revealed at Apple’s WWDC conference in June, is set to hit the market in the coming months, priced at $3,499.
This AR headset marks Apple’s first major product launch since the Apple Watch in 2014, boasting an array of sensors and cameras to deliver “spatial computing” experiences.
Upon launch, visionOS will host apps from major developers like Adobe, Microsoft, Netflix, Cisco, and more.
