Lagos State Safety Commission claims it is launching a joint operation with the NDLEA that will result in the closure of nightclubs across the state that allow the use of drugs and firearms.
Lanre Mojola, the commission’s director-general, stated this on Sunday during a meeting with nightclub owners/operators.

The NDLEA was represented during the meeting.
According to Mojola, the Lagos state government has zero tolerance for the use of drugs and firearms in nightclubs and would not hesitate to enforce relevant laws against violators in any part of Lagos.
He condemned the widespread usage of hard drugs and guns in nightclubs and the state has decided to close down such nightclubs.
The DG also expressed concern about the presence of minors in state nightclubs, stating that it was against the law.
“The goal of this meeting is to address some issues that have come to our attention.”
We are concerned about the use of drugs and guns, as well as other safety issues that have become a big source of concern.”

We are also aware of a recent gunshot event at a nightclub in Lagos. All of this raises severe issues for us.
