Nigerian highlife singer and songwriter, Adekunle Kosoko, known professionally as Adekunle Gold, has revealed that he now enjoys most of the things he used to condemn.

The musician, who revealed this in a series of tweets, explained that he was critical of such things because he was broke at the time.

Adekunle Gold got a lot of attention after releasing the 2015 smash track “Sade”, a highlife rendition of One Direction’s “Story of My Life”. In 2015, he got a record deal with YBNL Nation and released his debut studio album Gold, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Gold was preceded by the release of three singles: “Sade”, “Orente” and “Pick Up”.

He is married to Simi. They got married in a close-knit ceremony in January 2019. It was later revealed that they had been dating for five years. They welcomed a daughter Adejare Kosoko Deja in May 2020.

Gold has won several awards including Nigerian Entertainment Awards Best New Act, Best Song, and Best New Act To Watch. He is also the winner of The Headies 2016 Best Alternative Song and City People Entertainment Award Album of the Year.
