The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday, said it has established contact with some of the victims trapped in the 21-Storey building that collapsed on Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

NEMA Coordinator, South West, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye while speaking with SurgeZirc NG reporter, said five people have been rescued so far, adding that rescue operation in search of the victims has been intensified.

Farinloye also said four dead bodies were recovered so far.

He said that the victim, who spoke to one of his relatives and confirmed by the rescue team, said some of them gathered around the mustard point in the building when the 21-storey building collapsed.

A survivor simply identied as Morrie, 27, who spoke to our reporter, said he still have two of his friends trapped in the building.

Mr. Farinloye further noted that efforts are on-going to save more people, but with caution, to ensure that victims who were still alive would come out unhurt.

Recall SurgeZirc NG reports that the storey building collapsed around 2pm on Monday with several people trapped in the building.

When SurgeZirc NG reporter visited the scene, some of the residents told him that the Lagos Emergency Unit arrived the location late, callimg on government to intensify the rescue operation.
