Residents of Lagos were thrown into panic as there was a massive leakage of gas pipeline in the Ikeja area of the State, the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed.
The Agency’s acting Coordinator, Lagos State Territory, Ibrahim Farinloye, urged residents around Computer Village /Underbridge, Awolowo Way and Oba Akran axis, Anifowoshe street and Medical Road to avoid having contacts with naked fire.

It was learnt that there was already panic in the areas as traders, residents and commuters feared the leakage could lead to an inferno and destroy lives and property.
According to him, the agency had received distress alerts about the incident some minutes ago.
The acting Coordinator advised shops and business centres to be under lock and key pending when normalcy will return.
Meanwhile, he said emergency responders are working to prevent the unforeseen.

”Residents around Computer Village /Underbridge Awolowo Way and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons.

“Distress alerts just received indicate massive leakage of gas pipeline around these areas. Let us take utmost safety precautions,” he said in a statement.
