Abductions seem to be on the increase as a Naval officer was recently kidnapped a gunpoint in Akoko North-East council, just days after another army officer had been kidnapped by herdsmen in Ondo State.
The kidnappers are reportedly demanding N50,000,000 as ransom from the family of the unnamed naval officer who was abducted on his way to Abuja.
The spate of abductions on military personnel seems to be on the rise as it was just recently that Army Captain D. Gana and two other victims were also abducted on May 13 while travelling from Abuja along Auga/Ikaram in Ondo State

A joint task force of police and military personnel are hunting down the kidnappers in the hopes of securing the release of the naval officer as police spokesman Tee-Leo Okoro went on to say:
“various tactical squads have been deployed to man the area.”
“The police have sought the support of the host communities in a bid to checkmate and curtail crime on the said road.”

Travellers along the route have been urged to move cautiously given the current spate of abductions with Tee-Leo Ikoro adding for the public to be “various tactical squads have been deployed to man the area.”
