Senator Godswill Akpabio has expressed regret for running against President Bola Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary.

Akpabio remarked that if he and other presidential aspirants had known about his proposal to move the country forward sooner, they would not have run for the APC presidential ticket.

The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State stated that Lagos has served as a growth model for Nigerian states, and that the man who created the framework may do the same for Nigeria.

Senate President Akpabio stated during a reception in Tinubu’s honor hosted by the Lagos state government on Thursday that the president’s few decisions turbocharged the country’s progress.

The former Niger Delta Minister reaffirmed his commitment to working with the executive branch of government to ensure that Nigerians reap the benefits of democracy.

“With what the president has done in Lagos, we are confident that Nigeria is in safe hands,” he remarked.

“If we had known this was your plan for the country, we would not have run against you in the party primaries.”

“These few decisions you have made have acted as a catalyst for the development of the country.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the country has changed dramatically since the President took office a month ago.

Lagos is proud of you, he said. We have seen unprecedented pronouncements, unprecedented daring of change, and the renewed hope that he promised us when he took the oath of office as the president of the world’s largest black nation.
