APC support groups have expressed their displeasure with the current situation in which President Bola Tinubu’s appointments are being filled by persons they refer to as “Lagos boys.”
In a joint statement issued yesterday by the Coordinator of the APC groups, Dele Fulani, and the Secretary, Lanre Asiwaju, the groups said they were compelled to note that if this trend continues, the South-west could become the first boiling point of Tinubu’s administration.

In a letter to President Tinubu, the organisations stated that it was entirely unacceptable for politicians from Lagos State to be regarded as collecting all the benefits that accrue to the entire South-west was totally unacceptable to other states in the geopolitical zone stating Lagos isn’t the only South West state.
A casual check at the appointments made thus far under Tinubu’s administration revealed that the majority of those around him are all Lagos politicians, according to the groups.
“We, the South-west APC Support Groups, are forced to say that if this trend continues, the South-west may become the Tinubu administration’s first boiling point.”
“When we look at Mr. President’s recent appointments of 20 aides, we can categorically identify 13 of them as Lagos-based politicians.”
“This is uncalled for; this administration should not be made an all-Lagos affair because it will completely contradict the campaign promises of national inclusion,” they continued.
This trend, in fact, does not portray Mr. President as a nationalist and pan-Nigerian leader.”

The support emphasised that the president recently formed a committee to form boards of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ironically with the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as chairman and Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The groups noted that this was incorrect, citing hierarchy and procedure, and that Akume’s role surpasses that of Chief of Staff, emphasising that Akume, not Gbajabiamila, should be appointed Chairman.
