A prominent chieftain and the Spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State Chief Ogbonna Nwuke has resigned his position.
This was contained in a letter forwarded to the leadership of the party where he said his decision was strictly personal. In the letter, Nwuke expressed gratitude to the APC and his colleagues for their confidence to speak on behalf of the party.

He said, his assignment as the party spokesperson is done as it was time to concentrate on other things of great interest.
According to him, he did everything to deliver on the mandate that he was given. He said: “We believe that our assignment here has been done. We came at a time of great internal strife when there was a strong need to effectively connect with the party’s many audiences.”
This is coming as Director-General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Salihu Moh. Lukman alleged that some chieftains of his ruling All Progressives Congress APC are now working in concert with elements of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP to force the ruling party to cede its presidential ticket to the South in the lead up to the 2023 general election.

It can also be recalled that Chika Nwoba, Ebonyi APC spokesperson resigned from his position moments after Governor Dave Umahi formally announced his defection to the party. The governor’s defection to APC on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, was officially recognized by the ruling party household after months of speculations ridden by anxiety.
