In a recent turn of events, Chinenyenwa ‘Chichi’ Desire Okoebor, popularly known for her participation in the reality TV show Big Brother Naija, has taken legal action against Josephina ‘Phyna’ Otabor, alleging defamation of character.
The lawsuit stems from Phyna’s statements made during the ‘Level Up’ reunion episode, which Chichi and her legal team have deemed defamatory.

During a heated argument on the show, Phyna accused Chichi of abandoning her “husband and children” in Benin City, further suggesting that the abandonment had tragically resulted in the death of one of Chichi’s children.
Adding to the controversy, Phyna took to her Snapchat to reiterate her claims and even accused Chichi of poisoning her friend in Cyprus before leaving.
Chichi, with the support of her legal team, has categorically denied these false accusations. Her lawyers have presented their terms, demanding that Phyna publicly retract her statements across all her social media platforms.
Furthermore, they have requested that Phyna publish her retraction in three prominent newspapers. Additionally, they are seeking compensation of ₦100,000,000 as damages for the harm caused to Chichi’s reputation.
The allegations made by Phyna were fueled by pictures that circulated in January 2023, featuring Chichi alongside a man and a toddler.
These images led many to assume that Chichi was married with children. However, during the reunion show in June, Chichi clarified that the man in the pictures was her father’s youngest brother and not her husband. She emphatically denied being married or having any children.
Chichi’s legal team argues that Phyna’s defamatory statements have had severe consequences for their client.
They claim that Chichi’s professional career has been adversely affected, resulting in the loss of several endorsement deals and partnerships.
