Benue State Government stated they must retrieve all properties stolen from them. They further formed a commission to retrieve all stolen government property.

Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State, has formed an assets recovery commission to retrieve all looted government properties by the previous administration.

Tersoo Kula, the governor’s chief press secretary, announced this in a statement issued on Sunday in Makurdi.

According to Kula, the governor established an assets recovery committee at both the state and municipal government levels.

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, has established two Assets Recovery Committees. One will work at the state level, while the other will work at the local level.

Among other things, committee members are required to ascertain all mandated assets of the government including lands, vehicles, houses, furniture, and other machinery, according to the statement.

He stated that security agents would be deployed in the recovery mission. Hingah Biem, a former permanent secretary, chairs the committee, Barr. Joe Abaagu, Attorney General of the State, Dennis Akura,  Ioryue Yajir, Peter Egbodo, Joseph Ojob, Jonathan Modi, Shaageer Matins, Yuhe Jerome, Tom Uja, and Tormbuwua Terlumun as Member/Secretary are also members.

Jude Tyo, Aondowase Apera, Kwaghgba Amande, Richard Dzungweve, Anthony Sende, Olofu Ogwuche, Terver Kachina, and Nick Eworo are members of local government.

Representatives from the Department of State Security, the Police, the Military, and the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps will serve on both committees.

In addition, the Governor established a fact-finding committee for Benue State University, with Paul Biam being the chair of the committee. Jacob Ajene, Terkimbi Ikyange, Prof. Eugene Alyegbe, and Agbo Ochekpe serve as members and secretaries.

Rev. Alia’s new administration accused the previous administration of plundering Benue State’s treasury and properties.
