Benue State University students have expressed their disappointment in seeing an institution that should be impacting knowledge in future leaders, demonstrate anti-development through excessive extortion.
A university that looks for any means, or creates one if none exist, to extort its students is harming the nation by instilling the same habit in many, just as some who are victims today will do the same to others when in positions of power and authority. This is one of the reasons why corruption in Nigeria is on the rise.

The project supervisors at Benue State University Makurdi’s History Department collected N100,000 per PhD student in order to extort them while threatening those who refused to cooperate.
The lecturers designated as project supervisors to the victims were later found guilty, but the then-vice-chancellor, Professor Moses Kembe, was powerless to guarantee those implicated received the necessary punishments.
The institution is currently extorting those who require their transcripts for various reasons.
Greetings, Mr. Fanen. Former university student Andrew Nyiter claimed that people in need of transcripts would fill out an application and pay for it.
Following that, you will pay your department in cash, the faculty officer in cash, the computer operator in cash, buy fuel for the generator, buy stamps, and pay transport to the courier service in cash.
Those who require transcripts now pay nearly the same amount as they did for their school fees when attending the university in question.
I have a lot of evidence against this university (Benue State University, Makurdi), but all will be made public when the time comes.
Many university teachers do not care about their employment and instead devise ways to steal money from pupils.
According to my research, a class has over 800 students. As a result, while some lecturers are primarily concerned in selling their reading material to students, persuading them to attend lectures is always a challenge.
