Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has been declared the winner of the the governorship election held in Anambra state.
This announcement was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having concluded the supplementary election held in Ihiala Local Government on Tuesday.
The Returning Officer for 2021 Anambra governorship election, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, who announced the result early Wednesday in Awka, Anambra State, said :
“Soludo, having scored the highest number of votes and won more than two-third of the election in 21 local governments is hereby declared the winner.”
“Charles Chukuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and return elected.” Obi declared.
The APGA governorship candidate polled 112,229 votes to lead Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), who secure 53, 807 votes to emerge second.
While Andy Uba of the All Progressive Congress(APC), scored 43,285 votes to emerge third.
Also, Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressive Party came fourth with 21, 261 votes.
Charles Soludo who won 19 of the 21 Local Government declared by INEC, lost in Ogbaru to PDP and Nnewi North to YPP.

He is expected to be sworn in on the 22nd of March, when the tenure of the outgoing governor, Willie Obiano, expires.
