Canada has rejected over 7,595 Study Permit applications from India over the past few years, the IRCC revealed.
According to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) data, 7,595 study permit applications from India were rejected by Canadian officials between January 2018 and May 2023 due to deception, involving fraudulent or changed papers.

Misrepresentation entails providing false, misleading, or incomplete information, which can result in an applicant’s inadmissibility to the country for five years or permanent deportation from the country.
As a result, the applicant is disqualified for permanent residency and has a permanent record in their immigration file indicating fraud.
The Canadian government takes any form of citizenship or immigration fraud very severely. We are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our immigration programs and safeguarding our systems against fraud.
The minister emphasized that the priority is on uncovering individuals responsible for the fraudulent behavior, rather than penalizing anyone who may have been harmed by it.
It is an offense for anyone other than a member in good standing (lawyer or paralegal) of a Canadian law society, the Chambre des notaires du Québec, or the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants to represent or advise for a fee at any stage of an application or proceeding, said a High Commission spokesperson.
According to IRCC data provided this year, India will be the biggest source of new international students entering the North American nation in 2022, with 226,450 students.
Last year, the country’s major immigration-related department also declared that Indian citizens account for 35% of study permit holders in Canada.
