CJN of Nigeria, Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has advised jurists and legal professionals, not to sit back and watch the country disintegrate, but rather to recognise their responsibility in charting a new path for national progress.
CJN Ariwoola said this while officially opening the 2023 Nigerian Bar Association- Section on Legal Practise (NBA-SLP) conference.

He urged lawyers to embrace honesty, openness, and integrity, stating they must distinguish themselves and not be scared to strive for a just society.
In addition, NBA chairman Yakubu Maikyau stated in his speech that a new code of conduct for legal practitioners would be implemented on January 1, 2024, to combat corruption within the Bar.
“It is tyrannical for a senior advocate not to allow juniors access to them because they are supposed to be mentors,” he said, urging senior advocates and top lawyers to mentor younger colleagues.
“How can junior lawyers be mentored if they don’t see you?”
In his welcome remarks, Paul Harris Ogbole, chairman of the conference planning committee, urged lawyers to take advantage of the occasion and improve their knowledge of globalisation in the practise of law.
He stated that the meeting would provide a variety of chances for lawyers around the world.

NBA-SLP Chairman Chief Ferdinand Orbih stated that the age of artificial intelligence has expanded legal space, and lawyers should make good use of the opportunity.
He went on to say that the theme ‘Legal Practise Without Borders’ was chosen to address global concerns of transition in the legal profession.
