While City Round has yet to properly determine the reason for the attack, some cultists were alleged to have entered the area and fired into the air.
Residents were claimed to have fled for their lives as their opponents reacted.
The thugs numbering about five stormed the area in a tinted glass vehicle and started shooting into the air and in the process, shot their victims and then fled, said an eyewitness who spoke on the condition of anonymity for security reasons.
We were all present when it occurred. As soon as they entered the place, bullets began to ring out, two persons were shot, and everyone fled to safety; some other cultists escaped.
When reached, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer, did not confirm any deaths but stated that there had been shootings in the region.
There is no information like anyone else’s murder before me. However, following the sound of gunfire at the Ukwuoji Bus Stop in Awka, police officers have increased patrols within the city.
Information gathered at the scene from eyewitnesses showed it was cult-related, Ikenga continued.
The suspected robbers invaded the residence of Alhaji Gidado Muhammad Sani, at Arawa Quarters, shooting sporadically and robbing them of their property, the statement said.
