DSS pursued Emefiele over crude firearms, but abandoned Asari Dokubo with an assault rifle, Inibehe Effiong stated.
Inibehe Effiong, a legal practitioner and social critic, has criticised the Department of State Services, DSS, for how it is treating the case of suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.

According to Effiong, the agency “shamelessly went after Emefiele over the possession of primitive guns while Asari Dokubo, who he said had publicly displayed an assault rifle, was busy raising a private army and walking freely.”
The lawyer alleged in a statement on Tuesday via his verified Twitter handle that the DSS went for Emefiele in flagrant violation of the court’s direction that he be remanded in the Correctional Centre.
“The SSS has recorded yet another point in its long list of infamy and impunity,” he wrote.
“The show of shame at the Federal High Court in Lagos vindicates those of us who have repeatedly stated that this so-called law enforcement agency is nothing more than a political and partisan tool in the hands of every Aso Rock occupant.”
“It is revolting to witness the SSS’s crude desecration of the Federal High Court in Lagos.”
The Court ordered that Emefiele be remanded in the Correctional Centre, but the SSS, in typical fashion, went for Emefiele in flagrant violation of the court’s order.
In a constitutional democracy, such heinous sights should not be condoned. Mr. Tinubu kept Mr. Bichi as SSS DG because Bichi is always eager to utilise the agency to witch-hunt Tinubu’s perceived political opponents.
“When Godwin Emefiele was suspended as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, many Nigerians incorrectly assumed that his suspension was intended to hold him accountable for his disastrous monetary policies and any infractions he may have committed during the corrupt Buhari regime.”

“However, all the government has come up with so far are two ridiculous and dubious charges of illegal firearm possession.”
