Eight people are presumed dead when a flood submerges the Lagos town.The whereabouts of a yet-to-be-named mother, her baby, and six other people, including a guy just identified as Umar, are reportedly unknown after a flood caused by a strong downpour carried them away in Lagos State’s Agege district.
It was discovered that a tricycle operator who was plying the axis narrowly missed death as the flood swept his trike into the canal.

Wasiu claimed that as the water took away the woman and her kid, another neighbor, Umar, attempted to save them by jumping into the stream, adding that the current of the flood washed the three of them into the canal.
At the same moment, a mother who was carrying her around the same moment, a woman carrying her child tried to maneuver the flood but lost control, fell into the torrent, which swept her feet and began dragging her and her child into the canal, but Umar leaped into the flood to save them, yet, none of them have been recovered.
However, another resident, who gave his name just as Bamidele, told one of our journalists that the incident involved two tricycles. He went on to say that while one of the tricycle operators escaped, the other and his passengers were washed away by the flood.
There were two tricycle operators involved, Bamidele explained. The tricycle driver who did not transport people jumped out and escaped. The flood swept away the second trike driver, his tricycle, and his passengers. One tricycle was later found.
When reached, Johnson Babatunde, Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, confirmed the event. It happened at the Abattoir next to the Total Filling Station.
The tricycle carried five individuals.
People were waiting because of the flood, he stated, wondering why the tricycle operator chose to join the flood while others waited.
When asked if any of the victims’ bodies had been retrieved or if anyone had been rescued, Babatunde responded, We have not seen them, there is no update yet.
The Divisional Police Officer, when one of our correspondents visited the Abattoir Police Station, CSP Olatunji Oladimeji stated that he brought his personnel to the scene to conduct an investigation.

When contacted, Nosa Okunbor, Public Relations Officer at the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, stated that the agency had received no official report yet.
Kunle Adeshina, Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Environment, stated that the drainage infrastructure in the region was being expanded. There is a drainage expansion project in the area, Adeshina explained.
