An eight-storey building has collapsed in Owerri, Imo State leaving at least forty people trapped.
Located along the Yar’ Adua Drive in Owerri, the state capital, the building was said to have been under construction at the time of the incident on Thursday.
Rescue operation is currently ongoing at the scene of the incident. One person has been confirmed dead while several others are still trapped in the rubble however fifteen people have been rescued.

Fifteen persons have, however, been rescued from the rubble while one person has unfortunately been reported dead.
The cause of the sudden collapse is not yet known neither the identity of the owner nor the contractor has been discovered at this point.
