Emefiele may have sponsored Peter Obi’s Election, Labour Party comes under fire as faction lambast them for condemning President Tinubu.
The Labour Party (LP)’s Lamidi Apapa branch has lambasted the party’s Julius Abure faction for condemning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the suspension of controversial Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

According to Naija News, the faction’s spokesman, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, complimented the President for declaring June 12 as Democracy Day in honor of late Chief MKO Abiola’s democratic sacrifice.
It urged Nigerians to continue to support the Tinubu-led Federal Government’s good objectives while also condemning it where required.
We congratulate Nigerians on witnessing the first democracy day, Arabambi remarked.
President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s current administration. We applaud your excellency’s tenacity and dedication to preserving our democracy on religious, economic, and political grounds.
The Labour Party supports several reforms taking place in the country, such as the recognition of June 12 as a national holiday and a slew of other initiatives.
“The slogan of Chief MKO ABIOLA was Hope 93, and now we have ‘A renewed Hope 2023.'” Even though both ran on Muslim-Muslim platforms, the difference was the fervor and devotion of both MKO and PBAT to a new Nigeria that is not a symptom of religion. We urged people to continue to support the government’s noble goals while simultaneously criticising it correctly.
Arabambi added that Abure’s faction’s decision to oppose Emefiele’s dismissal and detention suggests that rumors that the suspended CBN governor was among those who supported Peter Obi’s presidential ambition may be accurate after all.
According to the LP faction, any government official who exploits his power, like Emefiele did by vying for president and causing misery on Nigeria with his ill-timed new Naira redesign policy, should face the full wrath of the law.
“Our attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to the Peter Obi-Abure-led faction of the Labour Party Spokesperson, Obiorah Ifoh, in which he irresponsibly claimed that the suspension approved by the president is unconstitutional, vindictive, and not in accordance with the constitution,” he added.
“We were all living witnesses to the travails of Nigerians as a result of the embattled CBN Governor’s various anti-masses policies rolled out to Nigerians, and as a responsible Party, we will not simply sit down and condemn a lawful inquiry into the years of the inglorious and corrupt reign of Emefiele, but rather called on the relevant security agencies to properly look into the ex-governor’s action and deeds.”
It is on record that Peter Obi and Julius Abure criminally appropriated to themselves an illegal labour party campaign fund to the tune of N12 billion and $15 million, which they had access to during the ignominious days of suspended CBN Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele’s grossly incompetent tenures.
“The Obiorah statements are laced with tribalism, egocentrism, and nepotism, and this tells us that the rumours that Emefiele was among those who supported Peter Obi’s presidential bid may be true after all.” How can rational people support someone who has kept millions of Nigerians on their knees for nearly nine years with records of impunity and poorly executed fiscal and monetary policies?
For the first time in Nigerian history, a sitting Central Bank Governor has been observed engaging in politics, but Obiorah fails to see why he should be probed and prosecuted if proven guilty.
“We were also informed during his tenure how the DSS accused Emefiele of terrorism financing.” He was charged with financing the actions of the proscribed pro-Biafra organisation, IPOB, and others.
As a party, we will not support any witch hunts or efforts to stifle good efforts to address the core causes of Nigeria’s economic crisis under Emefiele. We, therefore, urged the DSS and other security agencies to conduct their investigations without delay and to tell the public of their findings, as Nigerians are eager to learn why they were so poor under Emefiele’s program.”

Obiora Ifoh, LP National Publicity, declined to comment when reached for a response. Today, we don’t want to be reacting to anything. We are giving them undue prominence the instant we talk. Almost everyone is aware of He was given publicity. Based on what they keep stating, almost everyone understands they are impostors.
We are interested in commenting on national concerns rather than reacting to these miscreants.”But in this case, it’s almost like giving them oxygen,” Ifoh explained.
This is just pure speculations. The mandate must be returned.
