EU Declares 2023 Election "Rigged" As Investigation Concludes

EU submitted a report in conclusion of the 2023 election investigation. According to the report, the 2023 election was riddled with lots of irregularities.

Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communication to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has praised the European Union Election Monitoring Group for concluding in its report that the last election was marred by electoral irregularities and fell short of the minimum standard of credibility.

This comes as he criticizes Bola Tinubu and his spokesman, Dele Alake, for attempting to undermine the EU study.

In a statement, Shaibu stated that even the dead understood the last election lacked legitimacy, and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was unable to explain why, nearly five months after the poll, it refused to put the entire result on its website.

The Presidential election was held on February 25, 2023, and as of July 2, 2023, the Presidential election results had not been fully uploaded.

This is despite the fact that this election was the most expensive in West African history.

In September of last year, the EU announced that it had budgeted 39 million euros for Nigeria’s 2023 election. The majority of the funds went to INEC for election support.

The EU not only provided training for INEC staff, but also donated equipment to INEC in order for it to conduct a shambolic poll.

Atiku’s assistant also said that the results in places such as Rivers demonstrated that the election was far from legitimate.

He thought Tinubu’s intention to reward Former Governor Nyesom with a ministerial appointment was unfortunate , despite allegations of rigging and a current petition against the former Governor garnering over 300,000 votes.

Atiku’s assistant urged the United States and the United Kingdom to expedite the process of barring election riggers from entering the country.

He urged them to expose the identity of individuals involved in election rigging, particularly INEC employees and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
