Fans have decided that they want four players to be sold out of Manchester City during this summer’s transfer. This figure does not include Ilkay Gundogan, the team’s captain, who is already on his way out to Barcelona.
This is just two weeks after City made history by becoming the second English team to win the treble – in the Champions League finals in which they defeated Inter Milan.
The club draws closer to completing its first signing this summer, with Mateo Kovacic due to be announced later this week. The Croatian player will be moving to Etihad after City has paid £25 million to Chelsea.
However, the club does not see Kovacic as a direct replacement for Gundogan as they still look forward to signing another midfielder as Gundogan leaves.

The former City captain was a major contributor to the club’s outstanding performance in the just concluded season as well as all the trophies won under Guardiola. However, the captain has to leave as his contract with the club has expired.
He will be joining Barcelona on a free transfer. Regardless, the club’s coach and teeming fans wanted Gundogan to stay, but his decision to leave could not be undone.
Already, the club must have gotten acquainted with watching legends – the likes of David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, and Fernandinho – leaving the team in recent years, although none of them came close to what Gundogan means to the team.
While we await the City Captain’s departure, MEN Sports asked readers to analyze the players of the senior squad and give their take on which player they wanted to be kept in the club or sold out.
If a player had less than 50% vote to stay in the club, they would be added to the sell column. As a result, it looks like Manchester City will be witnessing a drastic change as the voters decided that four players should be sold out. Joao Cancelo came last on the list as 78 percent of voters wanted him to leave the club.
The Portuguese player was doing fine for years and was seen as one of the top full-backs in the Premier League but a recent breakdown in his relationship with Guardiola saw him leaving for Bayern Munich on loan in January.
The receiving club didn’t want to make the deal permanent as Cancelo will be returning to Etihad this summer. However, fans want him to leave City permanently.
Next on the list is Sergio Gomez with 60 percent of fans wanting him to leave the club. He was a temporary replacement for Alex Zinchenko despite initially being set to depart on loan after he moved from Anderlecht, but he struggled when presented with rare opportunities.
Aymeric Laporte had 55.2% of fans wanting him to be sold, making him come third on the list. The last person on the list is the club’s midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, with 54.2% of fans wanting him to leave City. Phillips has made no contributions to the club since his transfer from Leeds last summer. Phillips, on his part, has vowed to remain in the club and prove himself.

On the flip side, players like Erling Halland, Phil Foden, Ederson, Kevin De Bryune, Rodri, Jack Grealish, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, and Julian Alvarez all have more than 95% of fans approving of their stay in City.
Also, 69.3% and 64.5% of fans want Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, respectively, to remain in the club. While Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva have been linked to transfers, they both had about 65% of the voters wanted them to stay in the club for another season.
