Just 24 hours have passed since the International Organization of Migration (IOM) and the Nigerian Mission in Libya deported 21 illegal migrants from Nigeria.

The migrants, according to Musa, boarded a chartered jet with the flight number UZ 189 at noon local time and left Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli. They are anticipated to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos the same day.

We have successfully evacuated the Libyan authorities with the help of the IOM, he declared. There are 94 female adults, four male children, and four female children among the evacuated.

Under the Voluntary Humanitarian Repatriation (VHR) program, they are being evacuated. By conducting the operation, the Federal government further proves its dedication to making sure that no Nigerian is left stranded abroad.

I counseled the returnees to refrain from irregular migration, which entails entering a foreign nation without proper identification or a visa. It is dangerous and leaves children open to abuse.

They learned about the tricks used by human traffickers to trick victims into sexual exploitation and modern-day slavery.

I’ve also urged them to lead the battle against human trafficking, which is a crime against humanity and damages the reputation of Nigeria when they return home.

The federal government, FG is committed to the safe, orderly return of unauthorized migrants in order to prevent them from going without while they are detained.

To eliminate the threat of human trafficking and unauthorized immigration, we must collaborate with the appropriate authorities.

Over 800 Nigerians have been safely evacuated in eight exercises this year alone, with at least 5,000 Nigerians trapped in Libya having been successfully repatriated by the federal government in cooperation with the IOM since 2021.
